UPDATE 25/09/09 (10:28 PM EST):
Hola cats and kittens! If you haven't noticed yet, HT has got a bucket full of cannon characters up for adoption.

The application process is super-easy now, so if you'd like to take a metaphorical stab at some great characters like Hakoda, Haru, Pakku, and KUEI (HINT HINT ;) ... I miss my lil' nerd honey), just make a post to the cannon app board. If you have questions, just snag a mod and they can help!

Smoochies,
Masu

UPDATE 08/09/09 (5:13 AM EST):
You may have noticed by the new colour coordination, but HODAMN. Hou Tian is under new management now with 76% more pugs and porn!

So yes, other than Luck and I now being your co-lords and masters, some of the staff positions have been re-organized. Nothing really big, just a bit of colour-coordinating.

Also, there are new forums afoot. Introducing the brand new RP Kiosk, which now holds the Classifieds as well as the new Canon Applications as well as Shop Applications, for all your bureaucratic needs.

Underground Ba Sing Se is now a roleplayable part of the board. Why, I have no clue. ._.;

Since we gettin' all democratic up in here, there' gonna be Hou Tian-style Jury Duty. Jury Duty "is a Canon-Approval team of regular members that will switch out per every three canons you evaluate from time to time. Members will be chosen at random depending on seniority and posts counted." The current list of reviewer is here. NOW GO READ ABOUT IT MORE.

Onto my self-pimpage: I MADE A USABLE MAP OMB. It's not done, but it is now functional. You can make suggestions for changes/new locations in this thread.

...Oh yeah and I fixed the board so that all sub-board links now open into the same window, as opposed to a new tab.

Well I believe that's all the change that's happened lately. Remember to tip your Pug Lords and Grease Monkey-Bears!

[The Day After Tomorrow]

Right off the bat, we'd like to make sure you are interested. Please know that this is an Avatar RP where canon and custom characters can be role-played. This means that, generally, you are allowed to RP not only a canon character from The Avatar, but also create an original character to interact with those canon characters. If this initial point doesn’t bother you, than please continue on! It’s appreciated that you read the actual story and plot points of this RP, along with the important character information and other rules dictated in the profile, so that you know just what you’re getting into before you attempt to join.

The Story

It’s been six years since the last great battle; the story enthusiastic parents tell their energetic children right before they put them to bed. It’s the often-exaggerated tale of the Fire Nation and their monstrous Fire Lord’s defeat at the hands of the gentle and fair-ruling Avatar.

Aided by his band of misfit friends and allies, they marched to victory and pushed through obstacles that would have killed the weak-hearted long before the actual adventure had ever begun. Using the power granted to him alone, he destroyed the very weapon the former Fire Lord had called to his aid, causing it to careen of out control before its initial impact in the far northeast of the Fire Nation Island.

The force of the collision was massive, aided by whatever extra strength Aang had unwittingly released to knock it off course. Upon crashing, shock waves engulfed the better half of the island, causing an immense amount of damage not only to that particular section of the island, but like a stack of dominoes, it set off various other chain reactions on the continent. While the extra damage caused by the meteor crashing on the very nation it was meant to protect (the resulting explosion taking out a few small villages and sending small meteor rocks spreading throughout the area, which crashed in other more mainstream villages including the actual palace, its grounds, and the surrounding town) had not been planned nor purposely meant to be achieved; Aang had just killed two birds with one stone by crippling the Fire Nation in more ways than one.

During the chaos of the explosion, when the dust and debris had risen in a great all-consuming cloud and the sounds of screams of pain and terror were so loud they could drown out the sound of ones own thoughts, the former Fire Lord, Ozai and Aang begain their epic battle. Hour after hour they fought, the confusion of the meteor's crash failing to disrupt minds that were on one track. In the end, if only due to the effort of a determined Aang and the failure of the Earth Kingdom's ruination looming in the back of Ozai's mind, The Avatar managed to overpower The Fire Lord turned Phoenix King. He was allowed to live, but the core of his existence, his fire bending, was taken away, reducing him to nothing more than a meager shell of his former greatness. The confusion of the crash did not only consume one figure, but another seemed to fall from grace during the turmoil as well.

Without the aid of her former most trusted companions (her elite guard), Princess Azula was forced to battle the power that was Team Zuko and Katara to defend the honor and power of her father, yet not only that, her own right to a title that had been handed down to her. But lacking the powerhouse strength she had when working with Mai and Ty Lee, who at that time were still in the Fire Palace prison.

Faced off against Prince Zuko in an Agni Kai that would decide the fate of the dueling siblings it appeared as if she would lose—until, in a move of corrupt abandonment, the crazied princess begun to attack Water Bender Katara. Zuko, having been taken out by a bolt of lightning, was forced to watch as Katara narrowly dodged poorly aimed barrages of fire, until, cleverly, Katara captured her through the usage of water bending and a chain.

With the two main key players supposedly out of the game, having both gone to prison, it was easy from then on to re-establish control over a once tyrannical nation…

Despite how unsteady it seemed it was a control that has been maintained up to the present, surprisingly enough. The fall of the Fire Nation six years ago, however, has not left the nation in the best of states. Despite the people's fearsome reputation, prowess, and overall aggressive nature, their defeat at the hands of the Avatar has not left them with any trace of honor. A once feared and hated people are now simply hated and watched with a revered sort of curiosity from the rest of the world. Despite the peace that Aang preaches and the fact that the fire people have been rather passive over the last few years, it seems as though those of other nations are still waiting for the once conquered people to attempt their rise once more, displaying an almost dark sense of general prejudice.

As we all know, the Western Air Temple wasn’t built in a day, so one can’t expect the people to accept a nation of power-hungry denizens so readily, even after all these years. Albeit for now they are tolerated and that seems to be enough, or at least all they can do to alleviate the tension at this time.

As a Fire Lord, Prince Zuko does the best he can in attending to the calls and duties that are presented to him. Luckily Iroh travels back and forth between Ba Sing Se and the Fire Nation to assist Zuko with some advise that could help rebuild a city of people who seem to lack the initial knowledge of exactly what kindness is. Together, along with Mai and Ty Lee, they are currently helping rebuild the nation. However, the two former elite soldiers are watched with an inquisitive eye, for despite their help in the last few days before the Fire Nation’s fall, they were still…somewhat loyal to the very woman who had caused the most trouble for the opposing party. Confidence in Azula’s imprisonment notwithstanding, there’s still no confirmation, and trouble is brewing...

Aang is currently what one would call The Dawn. It’s a simple title; a name made up and passed among friends, though the true meaning of the word may be lost to some. While he had been missing after the initial take over of the Fire Nation, he returned to the slowly recovering land as an older individual, although his maturity appears to have not changed at all. He leads in the fashion of a Don or a ruler who mediates behind the scenes, he overseeing and sustaining good-natured relations between all four nations, despite his childish reluctance to do so. As expected in light of his inexperience with dealing with such manners though, he still employees the help of his closest friends. Together with Prince Zuko, he works to mend the Fire Nation's good favor, thus making it a less hostile environment to foreigners. The golden goal is to bring the nations together as one power in harmony...no matter how farfetched the idea appears. When he's not doing that, he is doing his best to revive his own people by teaching those with talent the extremely rare art of Air Bending.

On the outside, all seems well, but all people don’t feel or think similarly. They don’t all beat to the pulse of one large drum. On one side, those who have lost too much to the Fire Nation feel that all the people should be eradicated, or at least humiliated and punished until they'd suffered as long as they had. Under the "influence" of one named the Jade Shark, this "school" of thinkers believes that there should be no Fire Nation at all. In fact, there should exist no other nations either. Though there isn’t much information about this tribe of growing supporters and worshippers, it’s clear that this person wishes to destroy all forms of bending and instead create a new united world. They also have no qualms about doing whatever they need to achieve such a status, rumored to be founder of the most elusive and largest underground slave ring of Fire Nation people the world has ever seen.

However, this is not the only threat to Aang and his peace. Small groups of rebels have been forming, calling themselves the original People of the Flame. Their goal seems simple and straight forward, to destroy all things other than those belonging to the Fire Nation. Clearly it’s an attempt at revolution; a desire to take back what they claim is rightfully theirs: This world and all the people in it. As of now, it seems as if it’s nothing more than anonymous nobility-funded gangs who invade particular areas were ‘relief’ forces of other kingdoms and tribes are stationed. Small fights break out and nothing more, but even so…the fact that such a thing exists makes it seem as if Aang and his friends are doing something wrong.

So even after so long, and with so much progress, it seems as if there’s work yet be done.

. . .

Ah well, like Sokka always says, "Two steps forward! And then ten steps back and off a cliff..."

. . .
