Jury Duty isn’t quite as complex as I’m going to make it seem. It is a system that’s replacing the ole’ ”Send your tryout to a moderator!” these days—our attempt to avoid bias and, y’know, playing god with canons. Who are we to judge?

As you can see, we have what we call the Canon Applications board hidden up there in the Roleplay Kiosk of the ”Help Me” section. If you haven’t already guessed, this is where users may post their sample posts and applications to the designated Canon thread before Deadline hits. Once the Deadline has passed, Mods will usually evaluate and vote on the “best” tryout. This Jury Duty system is going to take that, and then some.

Because we can not rely on one group’s sole opinion, the Jury System is here now to mix it up a little. Members will be selected at random to partake in a critiquing process before Mod approvals. We call these members the Review Board, and they are responsible for posting in the canon thread with their vote, their rating, and their any other comments they wish to make before passing the baton.

Well, there’s a proper way to go about your duties and then there’s the slacker way. We propose you just fill out this evaluation sheet and save everyone the trouble of getting confused. Just remember that you need to fill one out for every tryout in the designated thread, and not just the ones you like :)

The mods in charge of that board are responsible for regulating Jury Duty. We will tell you when it’s your turn and we will tell you when your turn is done. Usually we’ll put a three-month gap between each random selection, meaning once you’ve given your three-canon-char lookover, we will replace you with another board member and leave you be for another three months :)
